Comparing lenders and managing your mortgage application

What does a mortgage adviser do?

There are many lenders offering hundreds of loan products - that’s why more than five out of ten Kiwis choose to work with an adviser to find their home loan. A Loan Market adviser compares a panel of lenders to present a shortlist of products that suit your needs. Whether you need guidance buying your first home, want a more competitive rate on your existing loan, are looking to grow your investment portfolio or anything in between, an adviser is by your side. And on top of that, many services offered by an adviser are free to you. They get paid by the lender you choose.

What is the process when working with an adviser?

When you meet with your Loan Market adviser, they will take time to understand your circumstances and goals. They will then calculate your borrowing power and let you know if you are eligible for any schemes or grants. Then they will show you which products are suited to your needs and take charge of application through to settlement.

It will look a little like this:

Discovery
You answer some questions online about your circumstances and goals.

Meeting
Your adviser will talk through your needs, calculate your borrowing power and discuss your options.

Game plan
After further in-depth research, your adviser will present you with your personalised Game Plan, providing tailored solutions and recommendations to meet your goals.

Application
Your adviser negotiates with your lender of choice and prepares your paperwork. Once you have signed, your adviser will do the legwork to get it approved.

Approval
This is your big moment. Getting your loan approved. Once the lender gives the nod, your adviser arranges the paperwork for you to sign.

Settlement
There is a lot that happens on settlement day, and your adviser works closely with your lender to ensure it runs as smoothly as possible.

Today, tomorrow and beyond
Your adviser is by your side for life. From checking in to make sure your loan continues to be competitive to helping you find the right car loan.

The Ray White and Loan Market story

Loan Market launched in 1994 by Brian and Sam White, originally known as Ray White Financial Services. Brian and Sam wanted to be able to help buyers secure the finance they needed to purchase their dream home, though mortgage broking was not a common service. Still family-run and owned, today there are over 150 Loan Market advisers located around New Zealand, with a panel of over 20 lenders - the largest in New Zealand.
