Ray White Kingsland pivots to online auctions and sells $7.2M

Ray White Kingsland has celebrated four outstanding results for their sellers as they pivoted to online auctions in the blink of an eye when Auckland’s Alert Level 3 lockdown was announced.

Despite moving to the innovative online platform, the four properties still attracted a whopping 35 registered buyers, as the people of New Zealand become ever-more accustomed to the ‘new normal’ of buying property under the hammer.

The absolute stand-out came in Grey Lynn as Mr Hawes and his team, led by Mark Prunty, worked to sell 8 Sherwood Avenue (above) for $2.98 million under the online hammer.

All four campaigns were managed by Ray White Kingsland Salesperson Tim Hawes and he said it was humbling to still deliver excellent prices for his sellers, despite all the obstacles.

“These were great results for our vendors over the course of the day. It was a tense time for them all with the transition to Level 3 the night before, but they trusted us and our advice, and were well rewarded with the results,” Mr Hawes said.

“With the volume of buyers in the marketplace at the moment, it was a huge team effort to manage the transition of Alert Levels in a few hours, both from a logistical sense and from a communication perspective.”

Another highlight came in Avondale as the Hawes-Prunty duo were at it again – this time they attracted 14 registered buyers and sold 66A St Georges Road (above) for $1.548 million.

“The key thing was having a clear plan and the ability to communicate that to keep all parties in the loop of changes. This gave buyers confidence that it was business as usual for them, albeit from the comfort of their living room at auction time,” Mr Hawes said.

“Of all the auctions, not one buyer pulled out based on the Alert Level change, and this shows that we have come to the point now where this is treated as just another part of the process.”

To complete the awesome foursome, the Hawes-Prunty team then sold 47 Seacliffe Road in Hillsborough for $1.635 million, before selling Mount Eden’s 10 Dunbar Road for $1.08 million.
