$31 million in property sold under the hammer in one day

Ray White Manukau, Manurewa, Mangere and Mangere Bridge sold more than $31 million in property at The Day auction event yesterday.

A total of 58 properties went under the hammer with an auction day clearance rate of 66 per cent.

The room was abuzz at The Day, which saw a total 267 registered bidders ready to buy at auction.

Ray White Manukau, Manurewa, Mangere and Mangere Bridge director Adam Thomson said the day ran flawlessly.

“The agents really got on board with it and we did a lot of preparation to deliver those great results on the day,” Mr Thomson said.

“We had some buyers in the room who stayed around for the whole day, with some people snapping up multiple properties, including one buyer who landed the winning bid on four properties.

“We had 500-600 people through the office yesterday and we’ve had a lot of people enquiring about selling since. People have been asking us when our next one is and if they can sell their property at our next one.

“This is the biggest auction event we’ve had across one day, we will have an auction event like this four times a year. This was more than double what we’ve ever auctioned in one day.”

“I’ve been in the industry for more than a decade and I’ve never been involved in an auction event that had the energy and excitement that The Day had,” Mr Steele said.

“In the middle of winter getting more than 50 auctions was not an easy task. It was extraordinary.

“I was very proud of the team, you could tell how much work they put in. There were more than 250 bidders which was just unheard of in Auckland. It was good for the buyers, good for the vendors and a very successful day.

“It was a big commitment and the success showed not only in the total value of the properties we sold in one day, but we had a lot of first home buyers who had been looking in the market for a long time and were able to purchase their first home. As an auctioneer there’s nothing more satisfying to see.”
