First home buyers battle it out for classic brick home
A New Lynn property has drawn a huge crowd at auction, with 16 buyers registering to place a bid on the three-bedroom home.
Located at 8A Craigbank Avenue, the auction saw 12 active bidders, eventually selling under the hammer for $1.201 million.
The property was marketed by Ray White Grey Lynn agents Kane Taylor and Scott Bartlett.
“We had a mix of first home buyers as well as a few people looking for their second home,” Mr Taylor said.
“The winning bid went to a family buying their first home.
“People were attracted to the fact that it was a freehold property with a solid brick and tile aspect, within a great price point, and not a tonne of future value to add.”
The sellers, Brendon and Brianna, had called the property home for many years but were relocating to Queenstown for work.
“This was the first home I bought, then Brianna moved in with me seven years ago and we’ve gotten married since then,” Brendon said.
“We were stoked with the result. I had mixed emotions when Kane suggested auctions, but I trusted Kane and followed his advice. I was told auction wasn’t the way to go from others, but we’re really glad we went to auction, obviously!
“Kane was very good. He was really good to deal with and Brianna really liked him too. He gave us a lot of confidence and we knew he’d get the job done.”
