Located at 7 Colonial Road, the four-bedroom home was originally built in 1912, and is being brought to market by Ray White Birkenhead agents Chris Gemmell and Anah Jordan on behalf of the seller, Fiona Wright.

After purchasing the home seven years ago, Ms Wright said they slowly renovated the home room-by-room over the next four years.

“When we bought it it was structurally sound and had great bones, but we gave it a refresh and modernised it,” she said.

“We did a few cosmetic things like replacing the roof which was the most major update. We painted inside and renovated the bathrooms.”

She said despite the dark green paint and clashing wallpaper that adorned the walls, which didn’t match her style, there were many original features which she fell in love with when she first inspected the home.

“I loved the ornate ceilings, that was one of things that captured my attention when we first viewed the home,” Ms Wright said.

“The plaster Victorian ceilings and the stained glass are original. All the floorboards are original as well.

“There’s ornate fireplaces and we’ve left all the original tiling around the fireplaces. All the internal doors and hardware are original, we just restored the door frames.”

Marketing agent Chris Gemmell said the home was full of character with deep roots in Birkenhead’s history.

“You can see why the original settlers hand-picked this strategic position, high above the Sugar Refinery, with extensive harbour views across to Watchman's Island, Harbour Bridge and the CBD,” Mr Gemmell said.

“Standing the test of time, this classical double-bay villa offers space, flexible living zones and stylish modern appointments, blending the old with the new.”

The property will go to auction on November 6.
