Ray White leaders level up

Two of the best leaders inside the Ray White Group, Ray White Collective owners Haesley Cush and Matt Lancashire spoke about their journey at the group’s inaugural Leadership Week on the Gold Coast.

This pair make business look like a buddy movie.

The best friends are top business owners and have known each other since they were little kids.

Their story of business leadership is nothing short of incredible.

From individual leaders through to business partners, to now holding down enormous amounts of territories across Brisbane’s high end real estate markets.

Their journey from individual offices into profitable joint ownership is one that\ must be heard.

“I made it my goal to be the #1 advertiser in The Courier Mail. I still have a KPI to have 5-10 pages in the paper every week, and we do. Then ambition greets you and I was always getting calls from other agencies.”

In late 2011, Matt approached Haesley Cush (pictured above) about buying the Ray White New Farm business.

Haesley, 34 at the time, sold it to Matt for $2.4 million.

Haesey kept the rent roll and went to work for Ray White Corporate as a trainer and auctioneer.

“Matt has an abundance model, whereas mine was a scarcity model,” Haesley said. The pair became partners once again in 2017.

“Partnership is the only ship that never leaves the shore,” Haesley said.

Ray White Queensland CEO Jason Andrew highlighted the team’s associate model as a key to their success.

Former associates Brandon Wortley and Scott Darwon, are now business partners, along with Nicholas Given.

“The associate program was something Matt (pictured below) did very well and it grew organically. We talk about G.V.A. We aim to be ‘genuine, valuable and authentic’ – so we physically work out once a week with our associates and we habit stack. We have coffee once a month with them too,” Haesley said.

“We always said we want to work with people for 18 months before we go into business. But we opened a new business in Toowong with Reuben Packer-Hill who joined us, and the same with Kim Olsen, she’s a top 10 salesperson and owns her own office in Clayfield. She is the top agent in the area and she now has a relationship with us in the Collective, some 300m down the road from Ray White Clayfield. And it has worked.”

The ‘wolfpack’ trains together with personal training sessions every week at every Collective office. The business now has its own infra-red sauna and ice bath plus yoga weekly sessions. We are in it for life. If it works, keep doing it. Put it in the calendar and do it again next year.”
